In the playlist editor, you'll see this as an object you may add.

A Block is a Placeholder in a Playlist

Any number of placeholder Blocks can be in a playlist and each one should be named.

The placeholder defines the location in the playlist the TMS will insert the preshow targeted for that named block.

Placeholders from Advertising Accord should be of type “Advert”

Placeholders from Smart Trailering should be of type “Trailer”

NOTE: placeholder names used must match those being provided in the preshow data for the TMS to be able to insert content into a placeholder.

Playlists

The Blocks can be positioned anywhere in the playlist.

Blocks are added to a playlist in the same way as content by dragging a Block into a playlist.

Any number of Blocks can be added to a Playlist.

Scheduling

When the playlist is scheduled will the TMS lookup the preshow data if a matching rule is found the content will be inserted into the playlist at the location of the placeholder.

Only content available at the site will be inserted in to the playlist. So if 5 CPLs are defined but only 4 are on the local site network only the 4 CPLs are inserted. This ensures the playlist created for that booked show is always valid and playable.

Selecting a scheduled playlist will show each placeholder and information on the rule used.

If a Placeholder is populated a “Tick” is seen and the matching rule source is shown.

If a placeholder is not used it disappears from the playlist on the player and the TMS Schedule overview will display “NO-MATCH”.

Instructions To View a Placeholder in a Scheduled Playlist

  • Clicking a Booked playlist on the SCHEDULE screen will expand the scheduled playlist view

  • Click the Edit button to view the original playlist with placeholders

  • The Playlist Editor Shows The Placeholders

  • Placeholder is Replaced By Content When The Rules Match
